We have had our Motomed bike around 8 years and it is one of the most valuable pieces of equipment we own.
It is used by both our son and daughter, who have cerebral palsy and myself who has a complex cardiac condition. The fact that it has both a passive and active function means that we can start slowly and build up our stamina.
Nathan, in particular, uses it nearly every day and this has led to a great improvement in his physical wellbeing. It has also given him control over how much he can do to improve his wellbeing. Physiotherapy is, generally, done to a person, whereas Nathan just needs someone to help him get strapped into the bike and then he can dictate whether he uses it passively or actively, and also how long for.
Cerys enjoys using the hand cycling element of the Motomed, and it is useful to have both elements in one piece of equipment. Again, she can choose whether to use it passively or actively, and the carry over into her abilities after use is extremely helpful, particularly with her transfers.
For myself, my Cardiologist suggests that all his patients should do some form of physical exercise, and particularly recommends exercise bikes. Having the Motomed already in our home means I can use it regularly and I have noticed a difference in my stamina levels, less fluid retention (a risk with cardiac conditions) and my general fitness.
The Motomed has been a fantastic investment for our family and the team are friendly and always happy to help in anyway they can. We highly recommend them.
